Design considerations when buying a balustrade

7 Nov 2016

If you are renovating an area of the house or starting from scratch, there are several design tips to consider when buying a balustrade:

Space:

Firstly, and probably the most important initial consideration, is the space where the balustrades will be placed. For instance, if it is outside you might look at using more resilient materials to counteract strong weather conditions. Or if it’s inside and you don’t need to worry about environmental conditions, then you may prefer to use a different material. At Pool Glass Fencing, we offer Frameless Glass Balustrades and Stainless Steel Glass Balustrades, to suit whatever you need.

Long-term Maintenance:

A strong consideration should be the long-term maintenance of the product. Will it need constant cleaning? Will rust prevention practices need to be put in place?

Luckily at Pool Glass Fencing, we offer several warranties, such as a 3-year warranty for the entire installation, as well as a 10-year warranty on our Duplex Grade 2205 Stainless Steel Spigots.

Design-specific considerations:

Once the previous considerations have been dealt with, it’s time to think about the design. In terms of the aesthetics and looks you want to achieve through a balustrade system, multiple things need to be considered.

Frameless Glass Balustrades allow for a lot of light into the area, although this can encourage heat and therefore make it difficult to maintain cleanliness within the area. Stainless Steel Glass Balustrades allow for more customisation, although can be considered to be less aesthetically pleasing.
